Banyuls is a powerful red dessert / apéritif wine and is made almost exclusively on Grenache Noir grapes and by the Vin Doux Naturel method. After that, the finished wine has been stored in casks for a minimum of 18 months. The result is, as in this Banyuls, a reddish-brown color with a light orange shade and an overwhelmingly hot wine-like bouquet – almost like a mix between port wine and madeira. It has a sweet, “bold” and fresh taste, which contains a myriad of hues that evoke memories of both ruby port wine, spices and nuts. A nice aperitif wine, but it is also incredibly suitable, served chilled, for blue cheese or for the more delicious chocolate desserts.
